– It’s important that your players have mastered the first components of the “change of direction skill, so check out those videos first.
– In order to increase the intensity of the skill and make it more realistic to the requirements of a player in a game, we’re now adding a throwing player at either end.
– Depending on the age or capability of your players, you may need to shorten or widen the distance between the ‘post’ players. This could be dictated by their ability to complete longer passes, as the drill will require shoulder passes over a longer distance.
– The worker should complete changes of direction on both legs to ensure they’re proficient on both sides. After receiving the pass, they must turn and pass the ball to the ‘post’ player at the other end as accurately as possible.
– It’s important that they wait a moment until the ‘post’ player has caught the ball, before completing their next drive.
– Again, don’t forget other important coaching points, including landing on the outside foot so that the player is more easily able to turn and deliver the next pass, and completing strong, accurate and balanced shoulder passes.
